I love pizza. Since losing 40 pounds, I have yet to order pizza from out for my meal. I’ve had a slice here and there when the kids have pizza — but  never make it a meal as calories, sodium and all those bad numbers multiply with every slice. And it’s HARD to have just one slice. Healthier frozen pizza leaves lots to be desired in the taste department and they barely fill you up, resembling a snack instead of a meal. They often feel like a compromise — trading great taste for so so or average flavor in exchange for better nutritional numbers.

Not pizza from Amy’s Kitchen. Amy’s Mushroom and Olive Pizza measures up to most pizzas — homemade or from out — without the greasiness or heaviness.

The mushroom and olive pizza is made with organic tomatoes and flour and topped with — as if you had to guess — mushrooms, olives and mozzarella cheese. The olives and mushrooms taste like a vegetable garden on a bed of a light ‘n tender crust with a crunch. The tomato sauce could’ve walked out of an Italian meal and onto the pizza. I cooked the pizza directly on the rack for a little crunch.

I had half of the pizza (it has three servings in the full size, not the individual serving pizza) and that felt like a meal instead of a snack. Perfect and delicious. This is one romp through the garden I will gladly have again to satisfy my pizza cravings… and I do love my pizza!
